St. Peter's Church

St. Peter's Church holds an esteemed place in the religious history of the New World. Built by 1620, it was the first protestant church in the Western Hemisphere, and the first Anglican Church to be built outside of the British Isles. Officially named, "Their Majesties' Chapel St. Peter's Church" by honor of Queen Elizabeth II in 2012, structures of the original 1620 church are still standing in hr current one.


Visitors can feel free to visit the historic church an take part in a tradition that has consistently taken place for nearly four-hundred years. As you explore the church, you will be able to find numerous artifacts and information cards letting you know what things are and their significance.

Staying Close

St. Peter's Church is located in St. George, meaning visitors to this area of Bermuda will have the benefit of easy site access during their visit. You won't find the area surrounding the historical site flooded with tourists, perhaps because there aren't many hotels nearby.

Location and What's Nearby

Opportunities for some fun in the sun like working on one's golf game and water sports are by no means hard to come by here. Tourists who will enjoy trying out their ability at the green, will want to do so at the most convenient option, which is Tucker's Point. If golfing isn't your thing, additional outdoor opportunities can still be found at Tobacco Bay Beach, one of the closest beaches to this landmark. However, many other golf and beach options are available in the community. Guests will discover a fair number of other local attractions in this general area. You'll find two additional places of interest nearby -Bermuda National Trust Museum and St. George Historical District- which are both situated within a couple miles of the historic site.
