Unfinished Church

From the way it looks, the Unfinished Church was to be a grand place of worship, meant to replace the St. Peters Church that was destroyed by a storm in 1874. However, after great progress had been made, further improvements kept being delayed until the idea was largely abandoned. Today, the church is in ruins, after a 1926 hurricane destroyed much of the progress that was made since 1874.


Guests are always free to explore the area around the church and to observe from the outside. Exploring the inside is sometime not allowed due to structural damage. Call the Bermuda Department of Parks to check the current state of the Unfinished Church.

You may enjoy staying in St. George if you plan on visiting Unfinished Church, as those visiting this region of Bermuda will be excited to have easy site access during their visit. With only a few accommodations in the community surrounding Unfinished Church, only a little tourist movement can be bargained on.

There are plenty of restaurants to pick from in the neighborhood nearby this historical site. Temptations, which has a menu full of American fare, is very close-by, making it a great option for patrons here. Also close-by, you and your group will encounter options like White Horse Pub and Tavern by the Sea where you should be sure to try a bit of International dishes and experience the Bermuda culture.
