From the way it looks, the Unfinished Church was to be a grand place of worship, meant to replace the St. Peters Church that was destroyed by a storm in 1874. However, after great progress had been made, further improvements kept being delayed until the idea was largely abandoned. Today, the church is in ruins, after a 1926 hurricane destroyed much of the progress that was made since 1874.
Guests are always free to explore the area around the church and to observe from the outside. Exploring the inside is sometime not allowed due to structural damage. Call the Bermuda Department of Parks to check the current state of the Unfinished Church.
St. George is a good option for those wishing to visit Unfinished Church, because travelers to this area of Bermuda will have easy site access during their time there. The area around this site remains relatively quiet, perhaps because there is such a modest selection of places to stay in the vicinity.

Vivacious travelers might also be enchanted by the area because of the opportunities for outdoor activities. Guests interested in testing their proficiency around the golf course, will want to do so at the nearest golfing opportunity, which is St. George's Golf Club. Lazy days can also be planned at Tobacco Bay Beach, the closest beach. But, at least two other golf and beach opportunities are situated in the region. Guests will encounter plenty of other interesting places to get away from the sun in this general area. There are a pair of nearby attractions -Old Rectory and St. George's Historical Society Museum- which are both found within just a couple miles of the historic site.
