Located near the heart of St. Lawrence Gap, Dover Beach is on the South coast of Barbados. You should think about stopping by whether or not you are staying in the vicinity. The beaches found throughout Barbados are usually somewhat secluded and quiet, but Dover Beach is the exception.
The beach is accessible to both pedestrians and vehicles. A car park can be found off of the St. Lawrence Gap road, which is accessible by Highway 7.
Situated in the St. Lawrence Gap, Dover Beach provides calm waters perfect for swimming and snorkeling. Palm trees dot the beach, offering a chance for shade, while white sand is perfect for relaxing in between swims.
There is also a snack bar here.
You'll be able to use picnic tables at this beach, so you can save your picnic lunch from the sand.
There are public restrooms at this beach——something you'll appreciate if you bring the kids along. Shower facilities are available here, so you don't have to spend the rest of the afternoon covered in sand. You will also be pleased to find umbrellas and chairs, so guests looking for a shaded area to relax will get their wish.
With that said, you will want to keep in mind that while there are luckily some comforts for you to enjoy while at Dover Beach, it is located within a commonly visited area. Dover Beach isn't the only beach worth checking out in Barbados.
You may also want to try Foul Bay, which is generally a pretty popular beach. It is located eight and a half miles to the east. However, if you're looking to enjoy a quieter scene, Maxwell Beach is an area secluded from lots of tourists and buildings. It is located just a little ways away.
Another option worth considering is Miami Beach, which is located two miles away.
Of course, there is much more to do besides lounge on the sand in Barbados, but Dover Beach is both a relaxing, sunny hangout and a stunning natural feature.
