How to Reach San German by Airplane

An airport in Mayaguez is the closest one available for tourists who will be staying in San German

The first stop for most tourists traveling to Puerto Rico will be the international airport in San Juan. From there, they can drive to their final destination. Tourists staying in San German also have the option of flying domestically to an airport in Mayagüez, which will get you an hour and a half closer to your accommodations.

Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport

The Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU) is the largest and busiest airport on Puerto Rico, and is a major hub for air travel in the Caribbean. Almost every tourist who plans on staying on the island will land at this airport first. It is located in Isla Verde, which is so close to San Juan that many people call it the San Juan Airport.

The airport originally opened in 1955 with just one runway, but today there are two runways over 8,000 feet long each, four terminals, a large collection of shops and restaurants, and even some conference rooms. The airport is headquarters to several airlines such as Jet Blue, and multiple flights each hour are available from different locations in the United States, not to mention the regular trips from Canada and Europe.

If you're flying from the states this information can be useful. Online services don't consistently recognize the least costly options so it's useful to see a summary of which airlines actually offer direct service to this airport.
