Beloved around the world as one of the top rum producers, Bacardi has its home in Puerto Rico, and its distillery, Casa Bacardi, is popular amongst tourists for offering tours that end with free samples. Check out the "Cathedral of Rum," which is the largest rum distillery in the world, and learn exactly how the beverage is made.
A free trolley ride around Casa Bacardi teaches you everything you need to know about rum making. The tours are offered every 20 minutes, alternating in English and Spanish, and lasts for one hour, educating guests about the history of rum making.
The tour starts with a history of sugar cane in the Caribbean and the origins of rum making, leading up to a discussion of the Bacardi family which includes a shore film about their lives. Then, you are whisked off to the "factory" where you learn about how rum was made and stored when Bacardi first began processing rum. Next you move on to a collection of Bacardi family memorabilia, then the "bar" where a master mixer talks about the many uses of rum. Finally, you end up in the media section which features a collection of old advertisements. At the end of the tour you are taken to the gift shop to receive your free samples and make some purchases of your own.
