There are two public beaches located in San Juan that feature facilities including bathrooms and changing rooms, picnic benches and barbecue grills, on-shore play areas for kids, and even lifeguards during daylight hours, as well as shops and restaurants along the road. Other beaches in the area may not have quite the facilities, but they are known for their gorgeous scenery which include soft white sand and tropical plants throughout. Although it is rare to find an unoccupied beach in this area, they are worth sharing the space.

Parque Beach: Parque Beach is lined with well manicured tropical palms, and features fine tan colored sand and deep blue waters.
Another option for beach-goers to consider is Ocean Park. People-watching is the most prominent activiity at Ocean Park, which is filled mostly with gay and straight single adults. Water sports and facilities are available at the beachfront resorts for a fee.
Carolina Beach: Set between Isla Verde and Piones is Carolina Beach, or Balneario Carolina in Spanish. Carolina Beach is actually not one, but a series of three beaches that stretch across the north coast of Puerto Rico.
