There are two public beaches located in San Juan that feature facilities including bathrooms and changing rooms, picnic benches and barbecue grills, on-shore play areas for kids, and even lifeguards during daylight hours, as well as shops and restaurants along the road.  Other beaches in the area may not have quite the facilities, but they are known for their gorgeous scenery which include soft white sand and tropical plants throughout.  Although it is rare to find an unoccupied beach in this area, they are worth sharing the space.

Beach Choices In The Area

You'll discover a small variety of beaches to consider in the area. Click on specific names for a detailed guide to that particular beach.

Condado Beach

Parque Beach: Parque Beach is so named because it is backed by a city park called Parque el Indio. Visitors can split their time between the beach and the park, making this stretch of Puerto Rico coast line double the fun.

A second alternative for beach-goers to consider is Ocean Park. People-watching is the most prominent activiity at Ocean Park, which is filled mostly with gay and straight single adults. Water sports and facilities are available at the beachfront resorts for a fee.

Carolina Beach: Set between Isla Verde and Piones is Carolina Beach, or Balneario Carolina in Spanish. Carolina Beach is actually not one, but a series of three beaches that stretch across the north coast of Puerto Rico.
