Located at the Third Millennium Park, Escambron Park is the beach nearest Old San Juan. It is one of the island's Blue Flag Beaches, and life guards are on duty between 8:30 a.m.
Situated in the eastern part of Viejo San Juan, this beach is 1.0 mile (1.7 km) to the east of the center of Viejo San Juan.

High rise hotels edge the shores of the beaches in Condado, where just one beach has a lifeguard during daylight hours. The rest of the beaches are agreeably more beautiful to look at, but because the rip-tides can be dangerous and there are no lifeguards on duty, most knowing tourists avoid them.
