Along the coast of San Pedro de Macoris is the ocean promenade, which is called the “Malecon.” A drive along this road offers views of the soft, tan-colored sand leading to bright turquoise waters. The shores are lined with little thatch-roofed cabanas to provide shade for anyone who rents them out, and you can almost always get your hands on one thanks to the lack of crowds in the area.
You'll find a large selection of beaches to choose from, although each of them are found in neighboring areas. Just click on individual names for more detail concerning that section of the coast.
Juan Dolio Beach: Calle Principal runs parallel to Juan Dolio. Exit off the main road onto a dirt road which takes you right up to the sand.
Another option worth considering is Playa Guayacanes. Despite the build up and crowds, Playa Guayacanes is able to maintain a remote tropical charm that is usually lost among popular beaches.
Caribe Beach: Caribe Beach, also known as Embassy Beach, is located near Boca Chica. The quiet inlet is flanked by resort properties that keep the beach relatively busy with tourists.
