Along the coast of San Pedro de Macoris is the ocean promenade, which is called the “Malecon.” A drive along this road offers views of the soft, tan-colored sand leading to bright turquoise waters. The shores are lined with little thatch-roofed cabanas to provide shade for anyone who rents them out, and you can almost always get your hands on one thanks to the lack of crowds in the area.
You will discover a large number of beaches to enjoy, although they are all located nearby. Click on the beach names for a detailed article concerning that part of the coast.
Juan Dolio Beach: Juan Dolio is a splendid stretch of soft white sand and cool blue water. This beach is centrally located near the capital, airport, and several other popular beaches on the southeast side of the Dominican Republic.
A second location that beach-goers can consider is Playa Guayacanes. Despite the build up and crowds, Playa Guayacanes is able to maintain a remote tropical charm that is usually lost among popular beaches.
Caribe Beach: From Boca Chica, take Autopista de Este east for about ten minutes to get to Caribe Beach. There is a parking lot right off the road.
