Museo Nacional de Historia y Geografia

One of the large museums in Santo Domingo, the Museo Nacional de Historia y Geografia (National Museum of History and Geography) presents the growth of the people of the Dominican Republic, as well as how the land has shaped the cities, borders, and relations with their neighbor Haiti.


The many exhibits at the National Museum features artifacts and scenes spanning from the early Taino up to modern Dominican Republic. Guests will be able to explore areas that show how trade and interaction with neighboring islands, mainland Americas, and the old world have helped shape the Dominican Republic politically, economically, and socially. The three main eras the museum focuses on is the era of the Taino, the North American Intervention, and the interaction with Haiti.
