The National Gallery was established in 1996 with the hopes of promoting local and international artwork as well as infused the community with knowledge on this important subject through educational and outreach programs. Tourists will find this is a great place to see pieces created by regional artists including those on other islands.
The gallery has a permanent exhibit of local artists on display, but also has several rotating exhibit each year. Additionally, they set up galleries throughout the rest of the Cayman Islands in order to expand the reach of art in the community.
Cayman Islands National Gallery is located in Seven Mile Beach, an area on Grand Cayman.
Aside from Cayman Islands National Gallery, the shopping opportunities in the vicinity are scarce.
The National Gallery is closed on all public holidays. Regular operating hours are 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. They are closed on Sundays.
