Seven Mile Beach

Seven Mile Beach is one of the largest and most popular beaches on Grand Cayman. Visitors can engage in all sorts of water sports but swimming and snorkeling are the favorites in these calm waters. In 2013 Travel + Leisure ranked this beach as one of the "Best Beaches in the World" as well as the "Second Best Beach for Families."

Located in Seven Mile Beach, this beach is on the West coast of Grand Cayman. You should consider dropping by even if you are not staying nearby. Travelers who'd like to avoid renting a car will probably like Seven Mile Beach. There are so many things to do in the area, as this beach is right in the center of all the daytime activity.

How to Access The Beach
Miles north of George Town, this beach is one of the most popular destinations on the island. There are no public access issues. You can easily find your way here and enjoy not just the beach, but the nearby restaurants, shopping and bars also.

Amenities and Ambiance

On the west coast of Grand Cayman, Seven Mile Beach is actually five and a half miles of powdery white sand lined with palms and Australian pines.

Lots of visitors here find that the on-site snack bar is just fine for lunch. You may also have the option to order some food from one of the mobile vendors who set up shop at the beach.

Unfortunately, restrooms will not be available here, though you may be able to use the facilities at a nearby business. You'll appreciate that showers are available, so you can clean off the sand before hitting more attractions. Seven Mile Beach is one of the most crowded on Grand Cayman, so visitors should expect crowds of all ages. Mainly tourists populate the beach.

Be mindful that Seven Mile Beach is in an area which is highly urbanized, so the availability of certain services is likely to be affected.

Beachgoers will find Seven Mile Beach on the West coast of Grand Cayman. It is close to Trafalgar Square, which is not far from away. Some will choose to walk here, while others will want to take a taxi, and it is among the attractions in the area.

If you're interested in mixing culture with your visit to the beach, you should consider a trip to National Gallery of the Cayman Islands. This museum is located two and a half miles to the south, so it could be a welcomed alternative to hot afternoon activities.

If someone in your group starts to get a little hungry at the beach, it's alright because you'll have plenty of places to dine, without having to go too far. One of the closest places to eat is Duke's Seafood & Rib Shack. The restaurant has a menu featuring Caribbean food. They are also famous for their barbecue and seafood. You could take a cab or probably walk to this restaurant since it's just a little ways away.

You may also want to try Barkers National Park Beach, which is generally a pretty popular beach. It is located three miles to the north. If it's solitude and tranquility you're seeking, Cemetery Beach is a location which doesn't host as many visitors. You'll find it only a short distance away.

Travelers may also want to consider Boatswain's Beach, which is located not too far away, so a quick ride in a taxi can take you where you want to go.

Of course, there are lots of other things to do and see in the Cayman Islands; then again, Seven Mile Beach is both a beautiful natural attraction, and a fun hangout spot.
