Seven Mile Beach Taxis

Many Seven Mile Beach visitors make taxi their main way to get around

A vacation in Seven Mile Beach is all about rest and relaxation on the beach.  Many tourists spend their days within a short radius of their hotel and find renting a car to be an unnecessary expense.  This is especially true thanks to local taxi operators who are known for offering high quality service.

Taxi Companies

Taxis are extremely easy to find on the streets of Seven Mile Beach, as drivers make the rounds between the beaches, restaurants, and resorts.  If you're out exploring further, you'll also find them consistently at the airport and the cruise port.  Should a time arise when you don't see  cab on the street, you can call a local operator or have the concierge of the nearest hotel help you out.

The great thing about the taxis here is that they are high in quality and very clean.  Most drivers are adamant that their vehicles be kept in this condition and will not pick up passengers who are wet or sandy from the beach.  Still, the drivers are a friendly bunch and knowledgeable as well, offering tours of the island for a set rate which allows you to see outside the confines of Seven Mile Beach.

Charlie's Super Cab & Tours is the only taxi service for which we have information. You can plan on calling them at (345) 949-4748; you'll find them on Elgin Avenue in Georgetown, 3.2 mi. south of Seven Mile Beach.

Should you decide to check out the local nightlife, make sure to call a taxi operator during the day to arrange nighttime transportation.

Rates, Fares, and Fees

You won't find meters at the front of taxis in Seven Mile Beach to monitor your rate.  This is because the government has preset fares between every location on the island.  When you get in the cab, simply tell the driver where you want to go and he or she will be able to respond with the exact price of the trip.

There are a few caveats, however.  Rates are created for up to three passengers.  That means every extra body will bring your fare up by one-third of the total cost.  You will also be charged an extra 25 percent if you need a ride between the hours of midnight and 6:00 a.m., and some drivers charge for extra luggage.  Make sure to budget for a tip.  The typical gratuity is 15 to 20 percent of the cost of the ride.

The following chart provides a few taxi fares for this area.

Typical Fares Around Seven Mile Beach
Typical Cost (USD) Location A Location B
$ 18.60 Owen Roberts International Airport Seven Mile Beach
$ 5.00 Royal Watler Cruise Terminal Seven Mile Beach

Despite the high cost of taking a taxi, Seven Mile Beach is one of the locations on the island of Grand Cayman where it makes the most sense to do so.
