The main beach area of Simpson Bay runs about two miles long and is fairly wide, leaving lots of room for the crowds of tourists who visit each day. Still, in comparison to the rest of town, the beaches are calm and quiet with no high-rise buildings, but instead a few island style beach bars and villas.
There are a large selection of beaches to enjoy in and around the area. Just click on each beach name to read a detailed article concerning that particular location.
Kim Sha Beach: Thanks to a small reef protecting the beach, the waters here are generally pretty calm. There are plenty of restaurants and bars near the water, and kiosks where you can rent watersports equipment.
A second alternative worth considering is Maho Bay Beach. Beacon Hill Road runs right alongside this beach. It's just south of the roundabout where Airport Road becomes Rhine Road.
Mullet Bay: Located on the western coast of the island, Mullet Bay Beach features a large strip of white sand, filled with palm trees and seagrapes. One of the best beaches on St. Maarten for swimming because of the excellent conditions of the crystalline waters, Mullet Bay is popular with tourists and locals alike.
