Contemporary Cuisine in Sint Maarten

If you find yourself in the mood for contemporary cuisine, you might have an opportunity to satisfy your hunger. Though not terribly plentiful, you can still find a couple of restaurants in St. Martin offering meals in this style.

With so much to try, from the informal atmosphere at Ocean to the simple cafes whose decades-old preparations will have you craving more, you are sure to find something with all the right flavors.

The following list allows you to peek at the small collection of contemporary restaurants you could try during your stay. You can click each restaurant's name to view the full article about its ambiance, locale, dress code, and more.

Ocean Lounge Restaurant

Philipsburg | (721) 542-2572

Located near the center of Philipsburg, Ocean Lounge Restaurant is on the same premises as Holland House Beach Hotel, and is a good choice for people thinking about staying near this town or nearby. Beautiful seafood and contemporary food make for a bold combo at this friendly, fine foods restaurant.

The menu here is inspired daily by what ingredients are available fresh. The breakfast buffet allows guests to choose from hot dishes to simple (but delectable) pastries and fruit, while lunch and dinner is a la carte and blends Caribbean and European preparation styles for simple indescribably good food. If you can't decide what to get, try the three-course Chef's Sampler and let whoever is leading the kitchen that night choose for you.

Oyster Pond | (721) 543-6700

Ocean, a part of The Westin Dawn Beach Resort and Spa, is located toward the southern outskirts of Oyster Pond. Affectionately identified as a casual place to have a meal, it's nice when you're not in the mood to get dolled up.

The Oarhouse

Simpson Bay | (721) 522-1639

Located near the center of Simpson Bay, The Oarhouse is a good option worth considering if you're thinking about going to this area of Sint Maarten. Out-of-towners who are in the mood for appetizers will thoroughly like stopping here during a trip to Simpson Bay.

The Oarhouse is set in a two-level deck with covered al fresco dining.

Sometimes, the most exciting places to try any cuisine in St. Martin are the ones that you run into as you're out doing activities and seeing attractions. That being said, it's still smart to plan on visiting specific venues. To find out more information about the culinary options awaiting you, check out this page.
