Attractions in Sosua

Sosua Beach is the main attraction of Sosua thanks to the U-shaped shore and calm waters that make watersports like snorkeling easy and fun.  For those who want to venture off the sand, there are two important museums, a zip-line tour, a surf school, a casino, and much more. With so much to do and see here, a vacation in Sosua is never dull – unless you want it to be. 

Beaches

Playa Sousa

A beach where snorkeling is an option is Playa Sousa. The entire town of Sosua seems to revolve around Sosua Bach, with beach resorts, open air restaurants and bars, and markets selling beach apparel. The beach here is a beauty, and drives tourism, making it one of the most popular beaches in the Dominican Republic.

Another alternative that beach-goers can consider is Alicia Beach. Surrounded by the rocky cliff that once covered the golden sand Alicia may be starting to be well known, but it is still a quiet retreat. The clear waters are great for snorkeling.

Grand Laguna Beach: A sandy beach backed by several buildings that make up a resort of the same name, Grand Laguna Beach is known for its peaceful nature.

Museums

Jewish Museum of Sosua

In case you like to become more aware of unfamiliar places and cultures, you might enjoy visiting a museum during your time in Sosua.

A common landmark for vacationers is Jewish Museum of Sosua. It is found within Sosua. Starting in 1940 during Hitler's Reign in Germany and the rise of Nazism across Europe, many European Jews fled their homeland to seek a safe haven. Between 1940 and 1945, around 700 Jewish refugees settled in modern day Sousa and started a new rural life.

If you are looking to do more sight-seeing, visit Museo De La Comunidad Judía De Sosúa. It is located in Sosua. The museum is open from 9:00am to 4:00pm, with a one hour break at 1:00.
