Museo De La Comunidad Judía De Sosúa

As Nazism began spreading across Europe in the 1930's, many of the European Jews sought refuge around the world. By 1940, the Dominican Republic was once of those destinations, as a group of Jewish refugees made their way to their new home. In Sousa, settlers were able to start a new life, playing a major role in the growth of the city. The Museo De La Comunidad Judia de Sousa (Jewish Community of Sousa Museum) showcases their successes and struggles.

Visitors to the museum will learn about the life that the 700+ refugees had to make for themselves in the Dominican Republic. You will see artifacts, view photographs, and hear the stories of the people as they faced their exodus.
