Lawaetz Family Museum

For more than 120 years, a prominent Dutch family has owned the beautiful white plantation home that is the Lawaetz Family Museum. The family opened the building to the public over a decade ago, sharing their interesting history with visitors.

What to Expect

Managed by Ridge to Reef Farm, you can enjoy a guided tour of the Lawaetz Family Museum. This tour brings guests through the home to view all of the antique relics that have been so well kept over the years. The home was originally purchased by Carl Lawaetz in 1896, and it is his belongings (an antique mahogany bed and a treasured set of china hand painted by his wife, for example) that are the central focus of the tour.

You can now find an organic farm store offering fresh produce as well as a gift shop.

The Lawaetz Family Museum is set inside a 1850s era plantation home, complete with white shutters, a wrap around porch, and impeccable kept grounds.
