Fredriksdal Ruins

Once the home to the magistrate of St. John, the property was sold to Frederick Von Moth in 1730s. Now, it honors him in name, a man who would later become a Governor of St. Croix. Hikers will often visit this spot as part of their tour of the island, taking time to imagine the grandiose nature of a plantation home which is now little more than rubble.

What to Expect

Hikers who visit the ruins will be able to explore as much as they want. As there are no staff, there is not much in the way of restrictions or services.

A tour of the property begins at the grand entrance and stairway, which is all that remains of the main estate. Heading behind the estate towards the bush ruins pop up here and there, showing an oven, a horsemill, a well, and several walls.
