This is a tiny little beach with some great snorkeling and beautiful sights all around. Jumbie Beach is out of the way, undeveloped, and is great if you are looking for privacy or just some peace and quiet. Some locals say that the beach is haunted, but that might just be to keep this hidden gem a secret.
Located on the island of St. John, 2.0 miles northeast of downtown Cruz Bay, Jumbie Beach is on the North coast of the island, You should think about stopping by even if you aren't staying nearby. Jumbie Beach stands out from other beaches because it's one of the best spots for escaping the hustle of the Virgin Islands' urban areas. Many of the other beaches you'll come across in the Virgin Islands offer views of the sea that are just as pretty, but are usually busier because they're right around the corner from the area's major hotels and resorts.
At the western edge of Trunk Bay off North Shore Road there is a small red sign marking the road to Jumbie Beach.
Unfortunately, restrooms will not be available here, which is something to consider if you plan to spend a full day in the sun. Fortunately, the water here is fit for snorkeling, so grab some equipment if you've been hoping to get in some underwater exploration.
Keep in mind that the region in which Jumbie Beach is located is visited by quite a number of tourists, so factor that into your plans.
Set on the North coast of St. John; the area hosts attractions such as Denis Bay Ruins, which is only a short distance away, so some will want to take a cab, while others will find it a nice walk.
If you want to mix culture with your visit to the beach, you might want to consider visiting Ivan Jadan Museum, a lovely museum found just a short taxi trip or walk away, giving you a chance to see, and learn about, even more of the area.
