Jumbie Beach

This is a tiny little beach with some great snorkeling and beautiful sights all around. Jumbie Beach is out of the way, undeveloped, and is great if you are looking for privacy or just some peace and quiet. Some locals say that the beach is haunted, but that might just be to keep this hidden gem a secret.

Positioned on the island of St. John, 2.0 miles northeast of downtown Cruz Bay, Jumbie Beach is on the North coast of the island, You should think about stopping by regardless of whether you're staying particularly close by. Jumbie Beach is one beach which rarely gets too crowded, but it's not totally void of people either.

How to Access The Beach
At the western edge of Trunk Bay off North Shore Road there is a small red sign marking the road to Jumbie Beach.

Amenities and Ambiance

Keep in mind that restrooms won't be found on-site, which is something to consider if you plan to spend a full day in the sun. The water in the area is clear enough for snorkeling, so bring your equipment if you're looking to see some exciting marine life.

Since Jumbie Beach is located inside a commonly visited area, you might want consider the time when you plan your visit.

Found on the North coast of St. John; this area boasts other attractions such as Denis Bay Ruins, which is not very far away, so some guests will want to walk to this attraction, while others will choose to take a cab.

If you're interested in combining a little culture with your trip to the beach, you may want to consider visiting Ivan Jadan Museum. This museum is relatively near Jumbie Beach, and might make a nice break from the midday sun.

The nearby town of Cruz Bay is a neat region that strikes a balance between island tranquility and urbanization. From the coast, Cruz Bay is a quick trip away, about a mile and a half (three kilometers).

Other Beaches

Of course, there are lots of other spots along the coast of St. John, so if Jumbie Beach doesn't suit you, you can still find a great spot.

You might also enjoy Cruz Bay Beach, situated only a short distance away. Others might prefer Denis Bay Beach, which offers more action, and isn't far from other popular destinations. It's located a few hundred yards to the west-northwest.

Another option worth considering is Scott Beach, which is located within a short distance.

The Virgin Islands has a lot to offer its visitors, but Jumbie Beach is both a beautiful natural attraction, and a fun hangout spot.
