Leinster Bay Beach

Leinster Bay, located on northern coast of St. Johns, offers a small beach area that is perfect for exploring the region, especially the exciting Watermelon Cay. The area features a variety of sealife among the seagrass, including starfish, sea cucumbers, and green turtles. Due to the remoteness of the location and its small size, the area is relatively quiet.

Located near the heart of the island of St. John, Leinster Bay Beach is on the North coast of the island, You should consider dropping by whether or not you are staying nearby. Leinster Bay Beach stands out because it's one of the best spots for escaping over-crowded hangouts in the town proper. Other nearby beaches in the Virgin Islands offer views of the sea that are just as pretty, but are usually more cramped since they're found in the most popular parts of town.

How to Access The Beach

Access to the beach is provided off of a local road, with a nearby car park. Drivers should take North Shore Road (Route 20), turning toward the Fredriksdal Plantation Ruins. Once the road reaches the beach, turn right, as the road leads directly into the small car park.

Amenities and Ambiance

Leinster Bay Beach has a rocky shoreline, composed of sand and coral rubble. The water is shallow and Watermelon Cay lies a short ways northeast of the shore. A reef sits southeast of the Cay, making for an excellent area for snorkeling.

There are public restrooms at this beach——something you'll appreciate if you bring the kids along. You will find the water here is of good snorkeling quality, so purchase or rent some gear if you want to see what lies beneath the surface.

You should remember that the area right around Leinster Bay Beach is rather congested, so the availability of certain facilities is likely to be affected.
