Named for the Father of the Atomic Bomb, this tiny beach is a nice choice for those looking to get away from the crowds. It is a locals beach, and has been spared tourism popularity. Just note that this beach can be rented out to groups, so there is a chance that it will be closed to the public.
Located just outside the heart of the island of St. John, near downtown Cruz Bay, Oppenheimer Beach is on the North edge of the island, You should consider stopping by whether or not you are staying very close. Travelers looking for a spot that's a little out of the way, but still active, may really like the middle ground found at Oppenheimer Beach. Generally, it's not an overly popular part of the coast, but it's not totally devoid of people either.
The beach is located just off North Shore Road between Hawksnest Bay and Trunk Bay. There is a small parking lot just off the main road, but it can only fit three or four cars at once. It is easy to miss Oppenheimer Beach, so keep an eye out.
Unfortunately, you won't find any public restrooms along this coastline, though you may be able to use the facilities at a nearby business. The water in the area is clear and good for snorkeling, so grab your gear if you want to see the underwater world.
