Salt Pond Bay

Salt Pond Bay, located on the southern coast of St. John, offers a great beach area for snorkeling and swimming. Because of its tranquil waters, Salt Pond Bay is quickly becoming a popular place for swimming in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Located on the southeastern side of the island of St. John, 1.1 miles south-southwest of Friis Bay, You should consider stopping by whether or not you're staying in the vicinity. How to Access The Beach

The beach is fairly remote and requires a vehicle to get to. Guests should take Route 107 southeast, until a local road, which requires four wheel drive to traverse.

The remote beach at Salt Pond Bay is located on the island's southeast coast adjacent to Coral Bay. This rocky yet peaceful beach was named for the salt pond located near the beach. The amazingly clear waters here are good for snorkeling, and there are a few fascinating tidal pools along the shore. All along the sands of Salt Pond Bay beach, there are gorgeous sea shells and pieces of coral strewn across the shores.

Many visitors find themselves ordering a drink or snack from the concessions here, even if they move off-site for lunch. If available, you could also try local specialties from one of the mobile vendors who typically set up at this spot.

This beach does have its own picnic facilities, making dining here even less of a hassle.

For your convenience, restrooms are available at Salt Pond Bay. You'll find the waters off-shore to be of good snorkeling quality, so bring along some equipment if you're wanting to check out the underwater sites.
