On the northwest coast of the island is where you'll find the best beaches located within the vicinity of St. John's.  These include two very popular public beaches that are frequented by locals and the four beaches in the crescents of Hawksbill which are out of the way yet can still get crowded.

Pick Your Ideal Beach

You'll discover several beaches to consider visiting in and around the area. Snorkeling is available at some of these beaches, if some members of your party are so inclined. Click on specific names to get additional information about that section of the coast.

Runaway Beach

If you want to go snorkeling, a place with that option is Runaway Beach. Next door to popular Dickinson's Bay, Runaway Beach is easy to get to and open to the public.

Another option that beach-goers can consider is St. Johns Harbor West. This beach has no parking for the public and is tricky to access except through the grounds of the Coconut Beach Club resort, though there is an unpaved road that leads to the eastern side of the beach.

Trafalgar Beach: Located at the entrance of Dickenson Bay and Deepwater Harbor, Trafalgar Beach looks over the water, boat traffic, and (if you head up the cliffs for a view) the city of St. John.
