Fort James

Once of the earlier British forts on the island, Fort James was constructed in 1706 in fear of an eventual French invasion. Till this day it stands guard in front of St. John's Harbor, though now mainly as a tourist attraction. Feel free to head over to Fort James and take a look at the construction, rooms, and of of course the excellent view.

Those wishing to visit Fort James may choose to book their trip on St. John's, since those staying in this region of Antigua will have the benefit of convenient access to the historical site for the duration of their trip. You won't find the area surrounding the historical site flooded with tourists, particularly since there are so few hotels in the vicinity.

Travelers who enjoy testing their skillfulness at the course, will want to do so at the closest option, which is Cedar Valley Golf Club. If golf doesn't tickle your fancy, there's no need to fret - go over to Fort James Beach, the most convenient beach to visit. Though the outdoor options above are the closest, you'll still have access to an impressive spread of equally enjoyable opportunities in the sun. Site visitors are also close to a small selection of additional attractions in the area. A popular spot for activities and fun in the neighborhood of the historic site is The Museum of Antigua and Barbuda, which can be found a short distance away.
