There is nothing more dazzling than an expertly crafted, one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry. At the Goldsmithy, you'll encounter Hans Smit, the Holland born jeweler who creates pieces of his own design and by commission to display and sell.
Hans Smit works with 14 and 18 karat gold, gemstones, and pearls to create pieces of jewelry that can not be found anywhere else on earth. They particularly specialize in Antiguanite, which is petrified coral that has crystallized in mostly hexagonal (quartz) patterns and in many different colors and sizes. They know how to cut off the brown protective coating of ironoxyde to expose its hidden beauty and patterns, then grind and polish it into beautiful gemstones set in unique silver and gold jewelry designed and made on-site.
The Goldsmitty is located near the center of downtown St. John's.
