Banana Bay

This is one of prettiest beaches on the island, and one of three popular beaches on the southeastern tip. It can take a little while to get out this way, but this is where you'll find the nicest white sand on St. Kitts. You'll also find unbelievable views of Nevis across the channel, and have the opportunity to watch the jumping fish that populate the beautiful waters of Banana Bay. There is a small hut that sells refreshments, but it still may be a good idea to pack a picnic.

Set 7.1 miles southeast of Basseterre, Banana Bay is on the South East edge of St. Kitts. You might want to drop by regardless of whether you're staying in the immediate vicinity. Even if you love being in the middle of all the action, there are some perks to visiting a beach that isn't surrounded by thousands of hotel rooms; beautiful but out-of-the-way beaches like Banana Bay allow you much more room to spread out and feel comfortable.

How to Access The Beach

Take the main road (the only road) that runs to the southeastern part of St. Kitts. As you circle Great Salt Pond, you'll reach a fork in the road. Going right will take you to Majors Bay, and going left will take you here to Banana Bay and to the adjacent Cockleshell Bay.

Amenities and Ambiance

Banana Bay is home to fine white sand and soft, rolling waves. There are coconut trees swaying in the ocean breeze along the coast which are not only picturesque but valuable also for their shade. This is also a good swimming area, but if you plan to go snorkeling you should bring your own gear.

Lots of visitors here find that the on-site snack bar is just fine for lunch. You may also have the option to get lunch from one of the mobile vendors who typically set up at this spot.

Keep in mind that restrooms won't be found on-site, so those of you traveling with small children may want to consider another spot.
