Banana Bay

This is one of prettiest beaches on the island, and one of three popular beaches on the southeastern tip. It can take a little while to get out this way, but this is where you'll find the nicest white sand on St. Kitts. You'll also find unbelievable views of Nevis across the channel, and have the opportunity to watch the jumping fish that populate the beautiful waters of Banana Bay. There is a small hut that sells refreshments, but it still may be a good idea to pack a picnic.

Located 7.1 miles southeast of Basseterre, Banana Bay is on the South East coast of St. Kitts. You should consider stopping by whether or not you're staying particularly close by. Even if you love being in the middle of all the action, there are some perks to visiting a beach that isn't packed full of hotel guests; secluded parts of the coast like Banana Bay might not be typical "beach scenes", but are nice and private.

How to Access The Beach
Take the main road (the only road) that runs to the southeastern part of St. Kitts. As you circle Great Salt Pond, you'll reach a fork in the road. Going right will take you to Majors Bay, and going left will take you here to Banana Bay and to the adjacent Cockleshell Bay.

Amenities and Ambiance

Banana Bay is home to fine white sand and soft, rolling waves. There are coconut trees swaying in the ocean breeze along the coast which are not only picturesque but valuable also for their shade. This is also a good swimming area, but if you plan to go snorkeling you should bring your own gear.

The concession stand at this spot is also an option. Depending on the season and time of day, you may also be able to order lunch from one of the local vendors who typically set up shop here.

Unfortunately, you won't find any public restrooms along this coastline, which is something to consider if you plan to spend a full day in the sun.
