This UNESCO World Heritage Site was built by the British and once protected all of St.Kitts; a beacon of power for the whole of British Caribbean. It was eventually abandoned, and fell to ruins. However, thanks to the dedication of historic societies, the fort has been restored to its former glory.

What to Expect

The main office at Brimstone Hill Fortress offers hand held audio tours, so that you can explore the fort at your own pace. When you are done, you can walk over to the canteen and relax with a cold drink and a bite to eat.

The fort itself is made of black volcanic rock, and the main building is placed begins a wall with cannons. The fortress as a whole overlooks a steep hill that eventually ends in the water, offering fantastic views of the sea.
