Brimstone Hill Fortress

This UNESCO World Heritage Site was built by the British and once protected all of St.Kitts; a beacon of power for the whole of British Caribbean. It was eventually abandoned, and fell to ruins. However, thanks to the dedication of historic societies, the fort has been restored to its former glory.

What to Expect

The main office at Brimstone Hill Fortress offers hand held audio tours, so that you can explore the fort at your own pace. When you are done, you can walk over to the canteen and relax with a cold drink and a bite to eat.

The fort itself is made of black volcanic rock, and the main building is placed begins a wall with cannons. The fortress as a whole overlooks a steep hill that eventually ends in the water, offering fantastic views of the sea.

You may enjoy staying in Saint Anne Sandy Point Parish if you plan on visiting Brimstone Hill Fortress, since travelers to this area of St. Kitts will be pleased to have convenient access to the historical site during their visit. The region near this historical site is not particularly indicated for its collection of food options, but tourists might still happen upon a few eateries to eat some delicious food.
