Clothing on St. Kitts

Moderate year-round tropical weather means packing lightly when traveling to St. Kitts and Nevis.

Light, comfortable clothing is best suited to conditions on both islands, where average temperatures rarely exceed 79 degrees Fahrenheit. Weather is dry and mild from November to April, so cool fabrics, especially light cottons, are usually most comfortable to wear during your stay.

From May to October, the islands experience extra rainfall, and temperatures rise slightly, so pack an umbrella and proper rain attire if visiting St. Kitts during this time of year.

The standard attitude toward clothing and style of dress on the islands is informal but conservative. While spending time on the beaches, swimsuits, short shorts, and other swim wear are appropriate, but these styles are not appropriate to wear in town. Bare chests and skimpy clothing are generally frowned upon while visiting shops and restaurants and even while walking the streets of St. Kitts and Nevis.
