Great Salt Pond

Visitors can take their pick of activities at the Great Salt Pond. Serious water sports, like body surfing, are popular in the turbulent Atlantic waters, while snorkeling and swimming are fantastic in the gentle Caribbean. Birdwatchers will also find these beaches enchanting because of the different varieties of shorebirds that come to visit.

Located in Christophe Harbour, Great Salt Pond is on the South East coast of St. Kitts. You might want to drop by even if you aren't staying particularly close by. Great Salt Pond is a distinguishable relaxation spot because it's one of the best spots for getting away from vacation stresses, like overly crowded restaurants and attractions. Many of the other beaches on St. Kitts may be just as breezy and refreshing, but are usually more crowded since they're found in the most popular parts of town.

How to Access The Beach
It can be difficult to reach, but if you're on the main road which winds along the peninsula, you'll find White House Bay just before you begin to curve around Great Salt Pond. From White House Bay, you can take a hike down to the coast of Ballast Bay on which this beach is located.

Amenities and Ambiance

The Great Salt Pond is situated on the southeastern tip of St. Kitts and borders both the Atlantic and the Caribbean. Sugary white sands line the beach on both sides and an array of birds frequently come into shore.

Many visitors find themselves ordering a drink or snack from the concessions here, even if they move off-site for lunch. Depending on the season and time of day, you may also be able to order lunch from one of the mobile vendors who are generally found here.

Keep in mind that restrooms won't be found on-site, which is something to consider if you plan to spend a full day in the sun. Fortunately, the water here is clear and good for snorkeling, so grab your gear if you want to do some underwater exploration. The Great Salt Pond is a popular beach, esecially among tourists.

If you tend to choose coasts which offer visitors a serene enclave, then a good choice for you is Great Salt Pond; it's back in a less urbanized area of St. Kitts.
