One of the perks of picking an all-inclusive resort on St. Lucia is that the island is so new to the phenomenon that it offers them in fine-tuned perfection. At the same time, St. Lucia is not so overrun by all-inclusives you can't get away from their warmly-calculated pampering when you want to.

There are only a handful all-inclusive resorts on St. Lucia and, with the notable exceptions of the in Vieux Fort and Sugar Beach, a Viceroy Resort in Soufrière, all are located at the northwest end of the island, scattered between the urban center of the Castries and its rural neighbor Gros Islet. Most resorts are family-friendly with package variations for couples, singles, and seniors.

While prices may seem high, travelers should take into account all that is included in these packages. Food, lodging, entertainment, and transportation are usually a part of the price of such resorts, and it can be difficult to find a better deal.

There is little these resorts do not offer. Many have multiple in-house restaurants ranging from fine dining with elegant and sophisticated surroundings to informal seafood buffets awash in tropical regalia. In addition to the standard entertainments of tennis, volleyball, guided tours, and horse-back riding; many all-inclusive resorts also offer 18-hole golf courses, sailing lessons, deep-sea fishing excursions, water parks for the kids, swim-up bars for the adults, and pung pools bubbling with volcanic mineral water pumped fresh from the Pitons for those who simply want to feel good.

There are those who argue that staying at an all-inclusive resort can take much of the fun out of exploring a new country. After all, resorts with all meals and activities included make it more expensive to strike out on your own and explore a local restaurant or take a tour on your own.

Some visitors seek the comfort of an all-inclusive package. There are multiple reasons why these plans are so popular. For instance, they offer the easiest way to know in advance what your vacation will cost. Click on each property to compare dining options, activities, and amenities.

Tennis enthusiasts and their families usually enjoy staying at Windjammer Landing, because they offer some nice tennis facilities on-site Windjammer Landing caters to a diverse group of travelers, including honeymooners, couples and families. Choose to stay in either of the resort's luxury suites or spacious villas which overlook the stunning Laberlotte Bay on the northwest side of St. Lucia. For visitors seeking to book an accommodation with an active bar and club scene, Capella Marigot Bay is one location you may want to consider. Each room is spacious and come in studio, one, two, and three bedroom with either a balcony or private plunge pool. Visitors can contact them at (877) 384-8037.

Visitors who appreciate convenient on-site dining should consider Sugar Beach, a Viceroy Resort. The decor style at Sugar Beach hearkens back to the time when the facility was actually a plantation -- with the added bonus of modern appliances and amenities. Luxury Sugar Mill Rooms There are 11 Luxury Sugar Mill Rooms, which feature views of Gros Pitons, the ruins of the sugar mill, and the lily pond. To contact them, call (758) 456-8000.
