The golf courses on St. Lucia are small but challenging

Because of St. Lucia's rugged and hilly terrain, the island is not ideal for championship golf courses. But golfers need not worry while vacationing on St. Lucia, as there are several courses on the island where they can practice their swing in this wonderful Caribbean paradise.

Because of the mountainous areas and rainforests on the island, there are only a few places where golf courses could be built. There are two golf courses on St. Lucia: one at the Sandals Regency St. Lucia Golf Resort & Spa and one at the St. Lucia Golf and Country Club located at Cap Estates on the northern end of the island. Although the island courses aren't as glamorous as other golf greens in the Caribbean, the courses on St. Lucia feature postcard perfect views of both the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea. So get out and enjoy the scenery while traversing the courses' fairway and greens.

Located on the Cap Estates, this course is set in the green rolling hills of the island, with a stunning panoramic view of the Atlantic Ocean and the sapphire waters of the Caribbean. One of the great features of the country club is its irrigation system, which makes the grass lush and green. Also, this 6,829 Yard Par 71 course has a complete Pro Golf Shop, so you can purchase any golfing equipment you may need for your outing, including name brand golf apparel and equipment. Practice your driving at the the course's 350 yard driving range, or register to compete in one of the many tournaments held at the course throughout the year.

Some of the top-name tournaments hosted annually by the St. Lucia Golf & Country Club include the Moet/Hennessey Tournament in October, and the Rotary Club Tournament, which has been held here for about 13 years. The country club also allows its guests to host corporate golfing events at the course.

Sandals St. Lucia La Toc Golf

One of the major highlights of staying at The is its wonderful 9-hole golf course. Golfers of all skill levels will enjoy the gorgeous greens and fairways at the Sandals St. Lucia La Toc Golf. The course features a plantation-style clubhouse and is located on picturesque island property in the bosom of a lush valley. Guests of the Sandals resort receive complimentary green fees and transportation to the course. Guests do have to pay $10(USD) per caddy for 18 holes of golf and $5(USD) for nine holes. Also, you can rent golf clubs, shoes, and golf carts for a small fee.

The layout of the course is short at only 3,141 yards, but playing on this course is definitely challenging. Some of the course's holes are tight, making for a difficult shot, and they often require great accuracy. The Sandals golf course requires that caddies be on location, so those golfers who enjoy the traditional golf experience will feel right at home here. Novice players can also get a few golf pointers from a member of the U.S. Golf Teachers Association who conducts a 30-minute clinic for beginners every Wednesday.
