Attractions in the Area Around Habitat Terrace

1 | St. Lucia Golf and Country Clu

Set in the rolling hills of the northern tip of the island, golfers will have panoramic views of both the Atlantic and the Caribbean. You might want to make use of their state-of-the-art practice facilities and golf academy, as this is course is no walk in the park.

This golf course is within traveling distance of Rodney Bay, two miles (three and a half kilometers) to the north of Habitat Terrace.

2 | Cas En Bas

On the northeast tip of the Saint Lucia, this beach as become popular with windsurfers taking advantage of the constant on-shore trade winds. Lessons are available for those wanting to learn.

This beach is situated less than a mile away from St. Lucia Golf and Country Club.

1 | Donkey Beach

One of the smallest, but most picturesque beaches on the island's northwest coast, Donkey Beach was almost destroyed when a golf course was to be put in there, but as of now the course's plans have fallen through and the beach remains.

Found within easy traveling distance from Rodney Bay, this beach is located a mile and a half (two and a half kilometers) to the west of Habitat Terrace.

2 | Treasure Bay Casino

Amass a treasure of your own at Treasure Bay Casino on St. Lucia. With 250 slot machines and a number of table games, along with the opportunity to join the Player's Club, the opportunities for big wins are endless.

This casino can be found at Baywalk Mall, and is just 0.8 miles (1.3 km) from Donkey Beach.

3 | Rodney Bay

The beach, although a main attraction, can easily become overrun with tourists, but the area is also host to other activities like bars, restaurants, and shops for a good time. You'll also find a wide range of water sports at this busy destination.

This beach is situated just 0.5 miles (0.8 km) from Treasure Bay Casino.

4 | Rodney Bay Marina

This marina is a half mile (three quarters of a kilometer) from Rodney Bay, and is near the center of Rodney Bay.

5 | Greg Glace Dock Marina

Rodney Bay Marina is a couple hundred yards (a few hundred meters) north-northwest of this marina.

1 | Fort Rodney

Built in 1778, Fort Rodney offered a strategic view of the western approach, and all of Rodney Bay. Today, the fort is in ruins, but is a popular place for hikers to explore while on their journey in the Pigeon Island National Park.

This historical site can be found two and a half miles (four kilometers) northwest of Habitat Terrace, on Pigeon Island and within the premises of Pigeon Island National Park.

2 | Pigeon Island National Park

Once called the Pigeon Island National Park, this area of St. Lucia has now been dubbed the Pigeon Island National Landmark, and is considered to be one of the most important showings of island history, culture, and nature. Formerly the site of a British Garrison, this park is now a historical park and nature center, with restaurants, community events, and the still standing forts.

This nature sanctuary/wildlife reserve is located on Pigeon Island, and is a few hundred yards (a quarter kilometer) from Fort Rodney.

3 | Pigeon Point Beach

Pigeon Point Beach is one of the island's better known historical areas. Near the beach, you can explore ruins of a fortress, barracks, and rusty cannons that date back to the middle of the 1700s.

Make your way a quarter mile (a half kilometer) from Pigeon Island National Park to get to this beach, which is located on Pigeon Island.

4 | Reduit Beach

There are lots of activities that vacationers can enjoy while on Reduit Beach. With an assortment of water sports available including snorkelling, scuba diving and sailing you can spend a day in the sun; if you just feel like being pampered, try a spa treatment, or guided tour for your beach excursion.

Vacationers can find this beach 0.8 miles (1.2 km) southeast of Pigeon Point Beach.

1 | Dauphin Beach

Ancient Indian stone carvings are the central draw to this beach, though ruins from an old colonial church destroyed in the Saint Lucia French Revolution of the late 1700s is another intriguing attraction. A trip to Dauphin Beach will make for a very interesting, often exciting, day.

This beach is situated within easy traveling range from Rodney Bay, two miles (three kilometers) to the east of Habitat Terrace.

1 | Choc Beach

Vacationers visiting Choc Beach can easily access nearby Castries, as well as its big resorts and shopping centers. Families with children seem to love Choc Beach because of its placid waters, which make a great swimming spot for the entire family.

Vacationers can find this beach three miles (four and a half kilometers) to the south west of Habitat Terrace.

If you're coming from Choc Beach, go a half mile (a half kilometer) northeast to locate this park.

1 | Labrelotte Bay

Labrelotte Bay is a semi-popular beach along the northeast coast of St. Lucia, where families can play, and those who worship the sun gods will enjoy lounging on the beach chairs that line the shore.

This beach is located in the neighborhood of La Brelotte Bay, two miles (three and a half kilometers) to the west of Habitat Terrace.

1 | Malabar Beach

While not overly urbanized, this is a beach that does see quite a number of visitors. Its location adjacent to the the runway of Vigie Airport make it quick and easy to access for those staying along the northwest coast - the most popular tourist area.

This beach can be found three and a half miles (six kilometers) to the south west of Habitat Terrace.

2 | Vigie Beach

The beach runs alongside the Vigie Airport runway, which seems like an immediate drawback; but the airport is relatively quiet, and its presence means a lack of hotels and resorts, keeping the beach clean and peaceful. Being close to Castries, it also puts you in a good location for shopping, dining, and other activities when you're day at the beach is finished.

Malabar Beach is located a quarter mile (a half kilometer) to the northeast of this beach.

3 | Choc Cemetery

You can find this historical site on Choc Castries, a few hundred yards (a few hundred meters) from Vigie Beach.

4 | Vigie Marina

Found in the northern part of Castries, this marina is located only 0.6 miles (1.0 km) from Choc Cemetery.

5 | Folk Research Centre

The St. Lucia Folk Research Centre features exhibits that represent the daily lives of the native people of the island of St. Lucia. Additionally, the research center includes a library with an extensive collection of books, articles, and other text related to the people and culture of St. Lucia; videos of cultural events; and images that span several decades.

Visitors will be able to find this museum on Mt. Pleasant, less than a mile away from Vigie Marina.

6 | King George V Gardens

Named after a British King of the early 1900's, the gardens are a popular place for a walk in the middle of the day. Located nearby many other attractions, it is a place easily visited without going out of your way.

Visitors will be able to find this botanical garden in North Castries, just outside the heart of Castries, a quarter mile (a quarter kilometer) from St. Lucia Folk Research Centre.

7 | Dollar Wise Arcade

Located in the Blue Coral Shopping Mall, Dollar Wise Arcade opened on St. Lucia as the first official gaming arcade on the island.

Situated at Blue Coral Shopping Mall, this gambling arcade is located just 0.3 miles (0.5 km) west-southwest of King George V Gardens.

8 | Derek Walcott Square

Named for St. Lucian author Derek Walcott who won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1992, this public square is located in the heart of St. Lucia's capital city of Castries. Not only is there a spot to honor Walcott, but the park also pays homage to residents who lost their lives in battle.

Found near the heart of downtown Castries, this park is about a hundred yards (a few hundred meters) from Dollar Wise Arcade.

9 | Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception

As the seat of the Archbishop on Saint Lucia, this cathedral has been a center of St. Lucian cultural life. However, just as the church as affected the people, walk inside and gaze upon the walls' and ceiling's decoration and see how the people have affected the church as well.

This historical site is at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, and is less than a hundred yards (about a hundred meters) from Derek Walcott Square.

10 | Le Pavillion Royal Museum

As the center of St. Lucia's historical and cultural conservation movement, this museum itself holds many treasures of its own. With numerous artifacts and document s detailing the history of St. Lucia's government and in particular the Government House.

Situated on the western edge of Castries, this museum is located only 0.5 miles (0.9 km) from Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.

11 | Government House

The current Government House is the third incarnation, with the first being destroyed in 1817, and the second abandoned in 1865. The third and final Government House was completed in 1895.

Find this historical site on the premises of Le Pavillion Royal Museum.

1 | La Toc Beach

La Toc is dominated by the Sandals Golf Resort, but there is public access. The atmosphere is relaxed, and it is a really nice location for sunbathers, beach walkers and casual swimmers.

Situated within easy traveling distance of Castries, this beach is 5.8 miles (9.3 km) south west of Habitat Terrace.

2 | Sandals La Toc

The course is surrounded by the lush, hilly terrain of St. Lucia's western coast. The course may not be the longest, but it's also not the easiest. The elevated 4th tee might just offer the most impressive vistas, but the 3rd, 7th, and 8th aren't far behind. It might be tough to keep your eye on the ball in such a picturesque setting, so pack your camera if you want to focus on your golf game, and admire your pictures another time.

This golf course is located a short distance from La Toc Beach, and is on La Toc Road.

3 | La Toc Battery

This old fort was once garrisoned by the British Colonial Forces, though today it serves a a window to the past.

Head a few hundred yards (a quarter kilometer) from Sandals St. Lucia La Toc Golf to get to this historical site.

1 | Marigot Beach

The unspoilt quality at this beach is perfect for a picnic or just relaxing and enjoying the view. This beach should not be confused with the nearby cove at Marigot Bay.

Habitat Terrace is located nine and a half miles (15 and a half kilometers) to the northeast of this beach.

2 | Marigot Bay

Marigot Bay's unspoiled lands and marked popularity draw visitors from all over, making it home to many different facilities and accommodations for guests. Enjoy fine dining, shopping, entertainment, and other activities along the shore while at Marigot Bay.

This beach is located less than a mile away from Roseau Bay.

3 | New Pointmarigot Marina

This marina is a short distance from Marigot Bay.

1 | Grande Anse

This nature sanctuary/wildlife reserve is located within traveling distance from Rodney Bay, five and a half miles (nine kilometers) to the southeast of Habitat Terrace.

2 | Grand Anse

The drive out Grand Anse is breathtakingly beautiful, and the scene once you get there is even more rewarding. Surrounded by St Lucia's mountainous eastern coast, and far removed from the island's development and tourist spots, you may find yourself all alone at this secluded, tranquil destination.

When coming from Grande Anse, go less than a hundred yards (less than a hundred meters) east to get to this beach.

1 | Fort Charlotte

The large Fort Charlotte may be in ruins, but there is still plenty to explore. The fort, built in 1764 by the French, still maintains many of its walkways and staircases, as the site has been renovated as a community college and government offices.

This historical site is situated seven miles (11 kilometers) to the south west of Habitat Terrace, and is on Morne Fortune.

1 | Anse Louvert

On the island's rocky eastern coast, this beach will only be accessed by the adventurous and, as a result, you'll likely have it all to yourself. Bring lots of water and some food as you won't find any beach bars or other facilities on this part of the island.

This beach is situated eight miles (13 kilometers) to the southeast of Habitat Terrace.

1 | Anse Couchon

While visiting Anse Couchon, beachgoers can enjoy some underwater sightseeing at the beach's shallow reef, which is home to an array of fascinating sea life. Visitors will doubtlessly fall in love with the exotic and picturesque shores of this romantic getaway.

Situated in the northeastern part of the neighborhood of Ti Kaye, this beach is 12.2 miles (19.6 km) from Habitat Terrace.

2 | L'Anse la Raye

Found on the southwestern edge of Anse La Raye, this beach is one and a quarter miles (two kilometers) northeast of Anse Couchon.

1 | Barre de L'isle Rain Forest Trail

Situated within Barre de l'Isle Forest Reserve, this hiking trail is 11.0 miles (17.8 km) to the south of Habitat Terrace.

2 | Barre de l'Isle Forest Reserve

This popular climb and hike is a major eco-tourist attraction on St. Lucia, and any fan of hiking up mountains and fantastic views will want to give the Barre de l'Isle Forest Reserve a try.

Guests can find this nature sanctuary/wildlife reserve on East Coast Road, from Barre de L'isle Rain Forest Trail.

1 | Mamiku Gardens

A collection of tropical plants and ruins of a house built in the 1700's, the Mamiku Gardens are quite an adventure despite its well maintained state.

Go 14 miles (22 kilometers) to the south from Habitat Terrace to reach this botanical garden, which is located within traveling distance from Dennery.

Make your way 13.4 miles (21.5 km) south from Habitat Terrace to reach this nature sanctuary/wildlife reserve, which is located within traveling distance from Dennery.

1 | Sault Falls

Known also by Dennery and Errand Falls, Sault Faulls is one of the biggest waterfalls on the island. It is also one of the lesser-known falls, the perfect reprieve for visitors who prefer a quiet hike and dip in the cool pools that is fills.

This waterfall can be found within traveling distance from Dennery, 11.0 miles (17.8 km) south of Habitat Terrace.
