Pigeon Point Beach

Pigeon Point Beach is one of the island's better known historical areas. Near the beach, you can explore ruins of a fortress, barracks, and rusty cannons that date back to the middle of the 1700s. The shores also host a number of boat docks and a marina for those wishing to boat here.

Situated on Pigeon Island, You should consider dropping by even if you aren't staying in the vicinity. If hustle and bustle isn't your style, you'll appreciate that St. Lucia has plenty of secluded beaches. Of course, some vacationers come to St. Lucia looking for activity, and are better off visiting Pigeon Point Beach, one of the few beaches that draws a significant crowd.

How to Access The Beach
If you're taking a car or taxi here, take the Castries - Gros Islet Hwy to the northern part of the island, just beyond Reduit Beach. The beach is located just inside the national park entrance on the south side of the point.

Amenities and Ambiance

The shores of Pigeon Point beach are endowed with groves of lush tropical trees, including big banyans, that tower high above the sands. From this beach you can take in great views of the coast and nearby Martinique. This quaint little beach is covered in soft white sands, and is an ideal place for a picnic.

There is also a restaurant right on the water, so if you don't want to leave Pigeon Point Beach at all, it's worth a try. St. Lucia has plenty of fantastic eateries around town, but not every meal needs to be eaten in a formal setting. Many visitors have lunch right on their towels in the sand. Ask your hotel about picnic lunches, as some hotels offer to pack snacks for their guests' day trips. Or, on your way to the beach you could grab some carry-out from a casual dining spot.

Lots of visitors here find that the on-site snack bar is just fine for lunch. Depending on the season and time of day, you may also be able to purchase food from one of the mobile vendors who typically set up at this spot.

One of the most useful amenities are the picnic facilities.

Please note that public restrooms are not available, so those of you traveling with small children may want to consider another spot. Pigeon point beach is part of the Pigeon Island National Historic Park, meaning it is well cared for. The island joins St. Lucia's mainland by causeway, meaning ti's easy to reach as well.

With that said, you will need to be sensitive to the fact that even though you will be able to find some forms of conveniences on-site if you go to Pigeon Point Beach, it will be found within an area commonly frequented by travelers. If you want to stay away from crowded shores and busy-beaches, it's an appropriate cause to think ahead and beat the crowds, for example arriving before the sun it at its hottest. If you come later, you may be unable to completely enjoy all the services that Pigeon Point Beach offers.

This pleasant stretch of sand known as Pigeon Point Beach is on the East coast of Pigeon Island. Fort Rodney is not far from away. Some will choose to walk here, while others will want to take a taxi, and it is among the attractions in the vicinity.
