Little Magens Bay

Set a little farther east of Magens Bay beach, Little Magens Bay is casual and gorgeous for swimming or lounging on the beach. In spite of the restriction of nude sunbathing on St. Thomas, Little Magens Bay remains a popular nude beach, where mature guests can take advantage of the comfortable sand and clear waters.

Located on the northern coast of the island of St. Thomas, You should consider stopping by whether or not you are staying particularly close by. Finding the best beach in the Virgin Islands is easy if you seek the right balance. You may want one that is a little off the beaten path, but still has all the major conveniences; that's why somewhat secluded areas like Little Magens Bay make good vacation hangouts.

How to Access The Beach
Access to the beach is provided by local roads branching off of Route 35. Guests should take a right on Peterborg road, which leads to a small car park. Alternatively, guests can walk from the larger Magens Bay beach by heading east.

Amenities and Ambiance

Little Magens Bay is a beautiful beach close to the popular Magens Bay, however it is not the same. Take a small, marked trail to this "little" beach, St. Thomas' only clothing-optional stretch of sand. Tropical vegetation and scattered rocks create a sense of seclusion, though the beach is within half a mile of Fairchild Park and other local attractions.

Of course, there is also a restaurant located right on-site. The Virgin Islands has a wide assortment of dining options, but don't think that tables, chairs, and waiters are prerequisites for a great meal. Many visitors would rather eat lunch by the shoreline than in a different restaurant. Ask your hotel about picnic lunches, as some hotels offer to pack snacks for their guests' day trips. Otherwise, there are plenty of walk-up vendors that offer hot, on-the-go food.

Even if you plan to dine elsewhere, the snack bar on-site could come in handy. You might also have the option to order some food from one of the mobile vendors who typically operate along this coastline.

Unfortunately, you won't find any public restrooms along this coastline, so those of you traveling with small children may want to consider another spot. You'll find the waters off-shore to be of good snorkeling quality, so bring along some gear if you're hoping to find some interesting marine life. Be prepared for nude sunbathing if you visit Little Magens Bay, a beach especially popular with homosexuals, for most of the visitors to this beach come here to remove their tan lines. It is also said to be former U.S. President Clinton's favored beach on St. Thomas.

Remember to take into account that Little Magens Bay's immediate surroundings are highly urbanized, so factor that into your plans.
