Magens Bay, located on the island of St. Thomas, is considered one of the best beaches in the area, featuring more than half a mile of protected, white beaches. With high praise comes many visitors, as the beach area is typically crowded, though the clear, calm waters make the location almost irresistible.

Located on the northern coast of the island of St. Thomas, You might think about stopping by even if you aren't staying nearby. Many of the other beaches in the Virgin Islands are known for being soothing, less-traveled spots along the coast. This atmosphere is blissful to some, but other visitors prefer lounging in the livelier environment at Magens Bay.

Amenities and Ambiance

Often called one of the world's most beautiful beaches and ranked by Travel + Leisure as one of the "Best Beaches on Earth," Magens Bay is St. Thomas' favorite family beach. A half-mile of crescent-shaped sand and clear blue waters that are ideal for swimming and hanging out make it a great escape. The beach can get very crowded when several cruise ships are in port but walking to the far ends of the beach, you can easily find a quiet spot. St. Thomas' lush green mountains border the shoreline, while views of smaller islands lie off in the distance.

Even if you plan to dine elsewhere, the snack bar on-site could come in handy.

Visitors to Magens Bay will find it is equipped with showers, restrooms, and picnic tables.

Additionally, lounge chairs are available for use at this beach. You will find the water here is clear and good for snorkeling, so purchase or rent some gear if you're hoping to see what lies beneath the surface. As one of the more popular beaches on the island, Magens Bay, is usually very crowded during the day with tourists. It is often a little less crowded in the afternoon hours.

Remember to take into account that the region in which Magens Bay is located is visited by quite a number of tourists, which means the availability of certain facilities is likely to be affected.

This beach is positioned on the North East coast of St. Thomas. It is close to Mahogany Run Public Golf Course, which is only a short distance away. Visitors will have the option to take a taxi or to walk, and it is one of a number of attractions close-by.
