Amenities and Ambiance

Often called one of the world's most beautiful beaches and ranked by Travel + Leisure as one of the "Best Beaches on Earth," Magens Bay is St. Thomas' favorite family beach. A half-mile of crescent-shaped sand and clear blue waters that are ideal for swimming and hanging out make it a great escape. The beach can get very crowded when several cruise ships are in port but walking to the far ends of the beach, you can easily find a quiet spot. St. Thomas' lush green mountains border the shoreline, while views of smaller islands lie off in the distance.

Do not attempt to walk to Magens Bay Beach. You will need to travel by rental car or taxi as the roads are too dangerous for pedestrians, and there are no sidewalks.

The snack bar located at this spot is perfect for quick lunches and cold drinks, too.

Magens Bay is well equipped, with showers, restrooms, and picnic tables.

Additionally, lounge chairs are available for use at this spot. You'll find the waters off-shore to be clear and good for snorkeling, so grab your equipment if you want to see what lies beneath the surface. As one of the more popular beaches on the island, Magens Bay, is usually very crowded during the day with tourists. It is often a little less crowded in the afternoon hours.

Keep in mind that Magens Bay's immediate surroundings are an urban area, meaning you may find quite a few people competing for the use of the same services.
