Mangrove Lagoon

Located on the southern coast of St. Thomas is a protected Mangrove Lagoon, which serves as a marine preserve and wildlife sanctuary, and is popular with kayakers.

The Mangrove Lagoon has a varied topography that includes salt ponds, coral, manglar islands, cliffs, and mangroves.

Most tourists visit the Mangrove Lagoon for a guided kayak tour, headed off by knowledgeable biologist who can speak on the local plants and wildlife with ease. Snorkeling often becomes a part of these tours, so you would be advised to wear a swimsuit.

Located in Maroon Town, 3.6 miles east-southeast of Charlotte Amalie, Mangrove Lagoon invites vacationers who are lodging in this town or an adjacent neighborhood. Even if you are not staying very close, you should feel free to stop by to check out the sights. In case you're wondering, Red Hook is two miles (three kilometers) to the east-northeast.

Mangrove Lagoon is located between Cas Cay and Jersey Bay.
