Mangrove Lagoon

Located on the southern coast of St. Thomas is a protected Mangrove Lagoon, which serves as a marine preserve and wildlife sanctuary, and is popular with kayakers.

The Mangrove Lagoon has a varied topography that includes salt ponds, coral, manglar islands, cliffs, and mangroves.

Most tourists visit the Mangrove Lagoon for a guided kayak tour, headed off by knowledgeable biologist who can speak on the local plants and wildlife with ease. Snorkeling often becomes a part of these tours, so you would be advised to wear a swimsuit.

Located in Maroon Town, 3.6 miles east-southeast of Charlotte Amalie, Mangrove Lagoon invites residents and visitors rooming in this town or an adjacent area. Whether or not you are staying in this location, you are free to drop by to check out the sights. If you're wondering, Red Hook is two miles (three kilometers) to the east-northeast.

Mangrove Lagoon is located between Cas Cay and Jersey Bay.
