Mangrove Lagoon

Located on the southern coast of St. Thomas is a protected Mangrove Lagoon, which serves as a marine preserve and wildlife sanctuary, and is popular with kayakers.

The Mangrove Lagoon has a varied topography that includes salt ponds, coral, manglar islands, cliffs, and mangroves.

Most tourists visit the Mangrove Lagoon for a guided kayak tour, headed off by knowledgeable biologist who can speak on the local plants and wildlife with ease. Snorkeling often becomes a part of these tours, so you would be advised to wear a swimsuit.


Mangrove Lagoon is situated in Maroon Town, a town near Charlotte Amalie; it's two miles (three kilometers) to the west-southwest of Red Hook.
