Patagon Dive Center

You'd be hard-pressed to find a dive facility with an owner as experienced as Captain Arnoldo Falcoff of Patagon Dive Center. Making his career as a commercial diver, he eventually settled on St. Thomas to pursue his recreational diving licenses and was soon fully PADI certified. He opened up shop in the late 70s and has helped oversea dive programs for island hotels over the years. Today, he and his team specialize in training children as young as age five through to adults who have a curiosity about the underwater world surrounding the island, and guiding them to some of the most awe-inspiring sites around.

Cost and Offerings

Patagon is one of the few dive centers in the Caribbean that specializes in courses for young children. At age five, PADI snorkeling courses are possible, and by eight they can participate in Bubblemakers which introduces them more fully to scuba. Age 10, Junior PADI certification become possible, and after that it is on to the adult courses -- which are offered here beginning with PADI Scuba Diver and all the way up through Master Diver.

Previously certified divers are able to participate in daily dives. Morning dives are double tank trips and leave at 930 a.m., while afternoon dives are single tank-ers that depart at 2:30 p.m. When night dives are requested, they will depart a dusk, which is around 6:30 p.m. depending on the time of year. They dive at over 50 sites in the area.

A single dive tank, with weights and snorkeling equipment included is $95, while a two tank dive is $125(USD). If you're planning to dive frequently over the course of your trip, you'll save by purchasing your dives in bulk. The 10 dive package is $500(USD).

What to Expect
