Sapphire Beach

Sapphire Beach is located on St. Thomas and features soft, white sand perfect for a beach stroll or sunbathing. Snorkeling at the offshore reefs is popular and a nearby dive shop rents equipment and beach chairs. Windsurfing is also a prime activity in the waters of this beach. A local restaurant and a beach bar serve island snacks and fruity drinks for your convenience.

Located in East End, Sapphire Beach is on the East edge of St. Thomas. You should consider dropping by even if you aren't staying particularly close by. Vacationers who prefer to walk rather than drive around the Virgin Islands will like how easy it is to reach Sapphire Beach. It's within walking distance of so many hotels and activities, and isn't far from the center of the city's action.

How to Access The Beach
Access to the beach is provided by a small carpark off of Smith Bay Road (Route 38). Guests hould turn onto Pavillion Road and take a small, unnamed path right, which will lead directly to the beach.

Amenities and Ambiance

Sapphire Beach's spectacular views of the Caribbean and St. John greet guests, with an excellent view of St. John Bay framed by hills and private estates. The wide, soft sands and blue waters are popular with families and watersport enthusiasts, especially windsurfers. Two coral reefs provide excellent snorkeling opportunities at Sapphire Beach on the east side of St. Thomas.

There is also a restaurant on-location, which many Sapphire Beach visitors find convenient and satisfying. There are several, unique dining options in the Virgin Islands, but don't think that table-side service and a lengthy menu are necessary to enjoy a tasty meal. Many visitors would rather eat lunch by the shoreline than in a different restaurant. So, you may wish to consider getting pre-packed lunches from your hotel if they offer them. Otherwise, street vendors and casual walk-up eateries will have take-out dishes you can bring to the beach.

There is also a concession stand available. You may also have the option to buy some food from one of the local vendors who set up shop at the beach.

You will be able to use a public restroom at Sapphire Beach. Additionally, visitors can access lounge chairs at this location. Happily, the off-shore waters are clear and good for snorkeling, so purchase or rent some gear if you want to check out what lies beneath the surface. The view to St. John from Sapphire Beach is has been called glorious, and the waters are often calm, creating a very family-friendly atmosphere, attracting both locals and island visitors.

Sapphire Beach and its assortment of amenities can be found well within an area popular for visitors. This means that if your ideal vacation means these amenities are an important factor, naturally, it's a smart cause to get there in the morning prior to when the other tourists come or perhaps go to a different beach away from the major areas. Or it's possible you may not be able to fully use all those comforts that this beach offers.

Thomas is Lindquist Beach, a perfect Caribbean beach, that resides off of an unmarked dirt road, and thus stays unpopulated in a busy tourist area. Another option worth considering is Vessup Bay, which is located only a short distance away.

You may find that Sapphire Beach is a great fit for your vacation, but maybe you want to see more; in which case you should keep looking for a beach or natural attraction that suits your vacation style.
