Ferries play many roles in the Bahamas. In some cases, they are huge mail boats that transfer freight and offer a network of travel between the islands. In others, they operate on a much smaller scale, like the ferry that runs between George Town and Stocking Island.
Stocking Island is a small island that is not overcrowded with tourists. Instead, it attracts those willing to pay a high price for the rental properties that offer them peace and seclusion. A small number of people staying across the way on George Town will also get the pleasure of visiting Stocking Island, courtesy of Club Peace & Plenty. They offer a ferry service for guests that is free twice a deal, leaving George Town at 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Those who are not guests of the resort will pay $12(USD) to cross, and this is generally the way that people who rent a property on Stocking Island get to their vacation getaway. The trip takes 20 minutes.
