On the northwestern coast of the little island of Tobago lies Pigeon Point's sweeping beach. The beach is a favorite among the islanders for spending a day lounging on the shore under the coconut palms, and can often get crowded.

Positioned on the island of Tobago, in the general vicinity of Crown Point, You might want regardless of whether you're staying nearby. Even though you won't find a bustling urban center here, many tourists choose this beach since it has such a relaxed atmosphere.

How to Access The Beach

Visitors can travel along Pigeon Point Road to get to the beach, then park outside the old coconut estate, where they will pay a small fee to gain access.

Amenities and Ambiance

The long coral beach and crystal clear waters are perfect for picking out marine life in the water and snorkeling is very popular, especially to the nearby Buccoo Reef. Glass bottom boats are available for hire and will take you out on the waves and still keep you dry. The boats take off from the Pigeon Point Jetty which features a thatched roof that has become somewhat of an icon.

You could always try the restaurant right on the water, if it suits your taste. Trinidad and Tobago has plenty of fantastic eateries around town, but not every meal you enjoy has to be at a fine restaurant. Many vacationers would sooner enjoy lunch on the sand, than lunch at a full-service restaurant. With this in mind, you might ask your hotel if they offer to pack picnic lunches for their guests. Otherwise, street vendors and casual walk-up eateries will have take-out dishes you can bring to the beach.

There is also a concession stand available. Depending on the season and time of day, you may also be able to order lunch from one of the mobile vendors who typically set up on this shoreline.

One of the most useful amenities are the picnic facilities.

Pigeon Point does have public restrooms for your convenience. Shower facilities are available, so you don't have to go back to your hotel sandy. The water here is fit for snorkeling, so bring your gear if you want to do some underwater exploration. Pigeon Point is the most popular beach for locals and tourists to spend the day at; thus, it is often littered with people especially during the weekends.
