Tobago Forest Reserve

This nature reserve has a special place in the history of conservation. The Tobago Forest Reserve was the first nature reserve in the Western Hemisphere, established in 1763.

Anyone looking to escape the hustle and bustle of Trinidad is sure to enjoy the peace and nature that can be found over on Tobago. With trails that will take you through dense forest, up hills, to the coast, and over streams, a hike in the reserve is an eclectic experience.


Located on the island of Tobago, in the vicinity of Belle Garden, Tobago Forest Reserve welcomes local residents and vacationers who are lodging on this part of the island. Regardless of whether or not you are staying in the vicinity, you should consider dropping by to enjoy a great time. If you're curious, Scarborough is eight and a half miles (14 kilometers) to the south west.
