Josiah's Bay

Josiah's Bay, a secluded area on the northern end of Tortola, offers an enjoyable beach spot with soft, white sand and moderate waters. Visitors are treated to an amazing view of Guana Island and a panorama of the bordering island extensions that enclose the bay. The area is easily accessible via a local road.

Located on the eastern coast of the island of Tortola, 2.5 miles northeast of downtown Road Town, You should consider stopping by even if you aren't staying in the vicinity. Couples and families who want to have more of the beach to themselves might want to plan a visit to Josiah's Bay.

How to Access The Beach

Access to the beach area is provided by Ridge Road, with a parking area provided close to the beach. Visitors must descend down a hill to enter the beach, so only those physically able are encouraged to make the trip!

Amenities and Ambiance

The bay is surrounded by beautiful, green hills and features tropical foliage. A good surfing location, Josiah's Bay has the perfect waves for an exciting time on the water. While the water is largely limited to experienced swimmers, the beach itself offers comfortable sand perfect for lounging or walking.

The concession stand at this spot is also an option. Depending on the season and time of day, you may also be able to buy some food from one of the mobile vendors who set up shop at the beach.

If you're not fond of dining in the sand, picnic tables can be found for you to eat on instead.

Unfortunately, you won't find any public restrooms along this coastline, which is something to consider if you plan to spend a full day in the sun. The water in the area is of good snorkeling quality, so purchase or rent some gear if you want to see what lies beneath the surface. This beach is well off the beaten path and often devoid of any people along its shores. Naomi's Grapetree Beach Bar is often home to this beaches' only inhabitants.
