Located on the eastern half of Tortola and in close proximity to the international airport, Long Bay offers a quiet beach spot for the entire family. Calm, shallow waters make for excellent swimming, while sea shell collecting stands as one of the most popular activities on Long Bay East. As many tourists head to nearby Trellis Bay, the beach at Long Bay is relatively quiet.
Positioned on the western edge of Beef Island, You should think about stopping by whether or not you're staying nearby. The beaches in the Virgin Islands aren't usually known for their peace and quiet, but Long Bay East is less exposed than the others, which offers some middle ground to those who want to stay away from big crowds, but still get the most out of their beach visit.
Visitors must cross Queen Elizabeth Bridge, into Beef Island, to get there. Continuing on Waterfront Drive, drivers should turn off shortly before the Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport, where a local road will connect directly with the beach.
Long Bay East is a long stretch of pristine white sand on the eastern tip of the island. Dramatic green hills and the turquoise blue waters decorate the view from the beach, while the soft sand is perfect for sunbathing.
Lots of visitors here find that the on-site snack bar is just fine for lunch. On some days, it may be possible to order lunch from one of the mobile vendors who are typically found at this location.
Please note that public restrooms are not available, which is something to consider if you plan to spend a full day in the sun. The water here is fit for snorkeling, so bring your equipment if you're looking to see some exciting marine life. Since it is so secluded, Long Bay East is a quiet place to relax, without crowds.
Long Bay East is always a lovely side-trip when you're in the area. Look for it on the West coast of Beef Island; it will be near other attractions like VI Maritime Museum, which is two and a half miles away.
Historical attractions such as Josiah's Bay Plantation provide a nice compliment to a soothing day at Long Bay East, and provide beachgoers with the opportunity to learn about the Virgin Islands' past, without having to go too far from the beach.

Road Town is nearby and is not lacking in exploration opportunities, yet also not overflowing with buildings. From the shore, Road Town is just up the road, maybe five miles (eight kilometers).
The number of other people sharing spots in the sand can vary widely, it depends on many factors: the time of sundown, happy hour, even how many people have booked rooms nearby. There aren't many large hotels in the immediate vicinity, but it's often visited by guests staying at the few small lodgings in the area.

Vacationers may also want to visit Trellis Bay, which is located only a short distance away.
