VI Maritime Museum

Set on the second floor of the Centre of Applied Marine Studies at H. Lavity Stoutt Community Collage, the VI Maritime Museum honors the rich boat building history of the British Virgin Islands. The museum opened in 2005 and has seen rapid expansion due to popularity amongst British royals.

The VI Maritime Museum strives to preserve the history of sailing in the British Virgin Islands. Exhibits include boat frames, tools used in the traditional building methods of boat building, artifacts from the 1867 ship wreck the RMS Rhone, two fully built traditional wooden seine boats that almost half a century old, and more. You can also sit and watch a power point presentation and video about boat building.
