Columbus Bay

Located on the Southwestern Peninsula of Trinidad, the bay was named for Christopher Columbus in honor of the fact that he and his crew entered the bay via ship in 1498. Today the beach serves as a semi-popular recreational spot for sun bathing and swimming. There are no lifeguards on duty.

Situated on the southwestern edge of the island of Trinidad, 2.4 miles west-southwest of Fullarton, You should consider dropping by even if you aren't staying very close. Even active vacationers with jam-packed itineraries will discover advantages to finding a beach that's a long way from the nearest major city; secluded parts of the coast like Columbus Bay make great places to spread out and relax.

Columbus Bay is set between Los Gallos Point and Corral Point. There is a car park available for visitors.

Amenities and Ambiance

The shore of Columbus Bay features tan colored sand that is smooth and soft. The waters are aquamarine with several outlying rocks that jut out from the sea, giving the bay character.

Unfortunately, you won't find any public restrooms along this coastline, but you may be able to find facilities at a nearby business.

If you happen to favor shores which offer those who visit an angelic place to escape, then maybe head on over to Columbus Bay; it's located in a less urbanized section of the region.

The closest part on Trinidad to Columbus Bay is Icacos. This location is just a mile and a half from the coast, which means it doesn't have to be a terribly lengthy excursion. Icacos is not an overly urbanized area, but still has its fair share of things to do.


Whether or not you encounter a lot of other visitors will be influenced by everything from the time of day to the capacity of nearby hotels.

You won't find any of Trinidad and Tobago's frequently visited hotels and resorts near this beach, though if you're hoping to dodge masses of travelers, the lack of accommodation options will be welcomed.


There aren't any restaurants in the vicinity of this beach, so you may choose to plan a picnic if you want to fully enjoy your day in the sun.
