Scotland Bay

If you're looking for a beach that seems to be in a world of its own, Scotland Bay is for you. Set on Chaguaramas Peninsula along the northwest coast of Trinidad, the bay is so remote that it can not be accessed by car or even on foot. Boaters and kayakers make up the bulk of visitors, and even though there is almost always someone there, it remains a peaceful getaway.

Located in the vicinity of Port of Spain, 2.3 miles northwest of Chaguaramas, Scotland Bay is on the North West coast of Trinidad. You might want to drop by even if you aren't staying in the immediate vicinity. When you need to spend the afternoon away from tourist-filled hotspots, you should check out Scotland Bay, a pretty, but less popular part of the coast.

How to Access The Beach
The only way to gain access to Scotland Bay is by boat.

Amenities and Ambiance

The U-shaped bay is edged by mountains featuring step cliffs that provide cover from strong winds. This keeps the waters relatively calm, making them perfect for swimmers and snorkelers. The shore is comprised largely of pebbles and stones rather than sand.

Unfortunately, you won't find any public restrooms along this coastline, which is something to consider if you're bringing the kids, or plan to spend all day outside. You'll find the waters off-shore to be of good snorkeling quality, so grab your equipment if you're wanting to check out the underwater sites.

Scotland Bay offers those who visit a quiet and peaceful environment, especially since the area surrounding the beach is more rural than urban.
