Scotland Bay

If you're looking for a beach that seems to be in a world of its own, Scotland Bay is for you. Set on Chaguaramas Peninsula along the northwest coast of Trinidad, the bay is so remote that it can not be accessed by car or even on foot. Boaters and kayakers make up the bulk of visitors, and even though there is almost always someone there, it remains a peaceful getaway.

Set in the vicinity of Port of Spain, 2.3 miles northwest of Chaguaramas, Scotland Bay is on the North West edge of Trinidad. You might want even if you aren't staying very close. Scotland Bay stands out from other beaches because it's one of the best spots for escaping the typical tourist haunts. Other nearby beaches on Trinidad and Tobago may have the same warm sand and calming breezes as Scotland Bay, but are usually more cramped because they're lined with some of the most famous hotels and restaurants.

How to Access The Beach

The only way to gain access to Scotland Bay is by boat.

Amenities and Ambiance

The U-shaped bay is edged by mountains featuring step cliffs that provide cover from strong winds. This keeps the waters relatively calm, making them perfect for swimmers and snorkelers. The shore is comprised largely of pebbles and stones rather than sand.

Unfortunately, you won't find any public restrooms along this coastline. Fortunately, the water here is clear enough for snorkeling, so purchase or rent some equipment if you are looking to do some underwater exploration.

Scotland Bay brings guests a calm and tranquil enclave, especially since the region surrounding the beach won't be overly crowded.
