Pondering all of the ways you have to get around Trois Ilet during your next visit? One option is a public bus, but there are some things you need to know.
Trois Ilets is not a location on the island where you can rely on the bus to provide transport for your every move. In fact, they aren't even called buses. Instead, here they are referred to as Taxi Collectifs, and travel around town on a set route, but with no set times for their stops. They are a great option if you happen to catch one as you're walking around town, but they are hard to rely on for your day-to-day needs.
Although there are about 400 of these vehicles roaming around the island, very few of them are in Trois Ilets. If you do see one as you're out and about, you'll be able to recognize them by the license plate, which will read “TC” at the start of the tag.
|Route||Beginning||Stops Along the Route||End|
|Southwest Les Anse D'Arlet Extension||Les Trois Ilets||Les Anses D'Arlet|
|Southern Connector||Les Trois Ilets||Riviere Salee, Riviere Pilote Bus Stop||Marin Bus Stop|
If used in conjunction with other transportation options, the buses in Trois Ilets can be a great resource for tourists. As long as you know in advance that these vehicles are laid back and don't keep to any particular schedule, you should get along just fine.
