Natural Attractions in Tulum

Those vacationing in Tulum often pack their days filled with visits to Mayan ruins, but this certainly isn't the only way to spend your time in this town.  There is a huge offering of nature attractions, from mysterious cenotes to a turtle conservation area.

Nature Preserves and Hiking

Do you want to spend part of your vacation out in the fresh air? You might be happy to find out that the area has an interesting nature preserve nearby.

Jungle Place is a great nature preserve found 11.6 mi. Northeast of central Tulum. Jungle Place is located near the town of Chemuyil, between Tulum and Playa del Carmen.

Caves

Aktun Chen Cave System

Even though most tourists are drawn by the beautiful water and coastline, those aren't the only way to experience the area's natural beauty. The one example is Aktun Chen Cave System. It is located 17.5 mi. North of central Tulum. <p>Located within the Indiana Jones Natural Adventure Park are a number of activities that guests can participate in and lots of wildlife to see. One of the attractions on site is the Aktun Chen Cave system. Formed over five million years ago, visitors can now marvel at the variety of columns, stalagmites, and stalactites</p>

Parks

Travelers can also spend some time in one of the many parks in and around Tulum.

Xunaan Ha Cenote is located 9.5 mi. Northeast of central Tulum. Located near Dreams Hotel in Puerto Aventuras, the Xunaan Ha Cenote is a popular swimming and diving spot, known for it's underwater cave with waters that float upstream rather than downstream.
