Natural Attractions in Tulum

Those vacationing in Tulum often pack their days filled with visits to Mayan ruins, but this certainly isn't the only way to spend your time in this town.  There is a huge offering of nature attractions, from mysterious cenotes to a turtle conservation area.

Nature Preserves and Hiking

Do you hope to enjoy more of your vacation seeing the local flaura and fauna? You might be happy to find out that the area has a pair of nature preserves nearby.

Jungle Place is a popular nature preserve located 11.6 mi. Northeast of central Tulum. Jungle Place is located near the town of Chemuyil, between Tulum and Playa del Carmen.

Caves

Aktun Chen Cave System

Even though most vacationers are drawn by the beautiful water and coastline, that isn't the only way to enjoy the area's natural wonders. The one example is Aktun Chen Cave System. It is situated 17.5 mi. North of central Tulum. <p>Located within the Indiana Jones Natural Adventure Park are a number of activities that guests can participate in and lots of wildlife to see. One of the attractions on site is the Aktun Chen Cave system. Formed over five million years ago, visitors can now marvel at the variety of columns, stalagmites, and stalactites</p>

Parks

Travelers can also visit one of the many parks in and around Tulum.

Xunaan Ha Cenote is found 9.5 mi. Northeast of central Tulum. Located near Dreams Hotel in Puerto Aventuras, the Xunaan Ha Cenote is a popular swimming and diving spot, known for it's underwater cave with waters that float upstream rather than downstream.
