A reminder that not all was peaceful for the Maya, these walls stood to protect the priests and lords that lived within the city. The wall today covers three of the four sides of the city.
The outer wall was built using stacked stones that were packed together. While most of it still stands, much is overgrown and a few covered with iguanas.
