North Beach

While Salt Cay is lined with world-class beaches, one in particular stands out: North Beach. In fact, for its beauty and seclusion, many say it is the best beach in the entirety of Turks and Caicos.

Positioned on the island of Salt Cay, You should consider stopping by even if you aren't staying in the immediate vicinity. There are plenty of advantages to visiting a beach that hasn't been "discovered" by thousands of tourists; relatively untouched parts of the coast like North Beach let you escape people-watchers and rowdy beachgoers.

Amenities and Ambiance

Not only is North Beach powdered with ivory white sand, but hidden within the sand is a wide variety if colorful sea glass and shells, which make for lovely natural souvenirs. Of course, one can not overlook the crystal clear blue waters and the shady trees that dot the land scape.

Keep in mind that restrooms won't be found on-site, so those of you traveling with small children may want to consider another spot. The water here is of good snorkeling quality, so bring your gear if you want to see the underwater world.

North Beach is beautiful natural site, which you'll find on the North East coast of Salt Cay; it's located near attractions like Salt Cay Salt Works, which is one of the closest attractions to visit.

Some may feel that museums and beaches are an odd combination, but plenty of visitors find that museums like H.M. Prison Museum (positioned nine and a half miles away) offer an entertaining diversion and a whole new perspective of Turks and Caicos.

Cities and Towns

Balfour Town is the closest city to North Beach. It is a fairly rural area, but it can be an interesting destination for guests hoping to get a taste of the local scene. From the coast, Balfour Town is not far away, maybe a mile and a half (two and a half kilometers).


How many other people you encounter at North Beach will depend on many factors, including the capacity of nearby hotels. North Beach is not near very many major hotels, but it's sometimes enjoyed by guests staying at the few small lodgings in the area.
